About Us

Heritage Hmong Preschool is a dream that has been many years in the making and finally came to fruition in 2025. The vision began when our founder became a parent and searched for the kind of care she envisioned for her own child—one that nurtured learning, culture, and language. When that environment couldn’t be found, she set aside her teaching career to create it herself.

Heritage Hmong Preschool was built so that you don’t have to make that same sacrifice. We’re here to provide a safe, high-quality, and enriching early learning experience—so you can continue your career knowing your child is in caring, capable hands.

Our program is a fusion of two passions: teaching and preserving the Hmong culture and language. We believe the early years, from birth to age five, are the most critical for growth and discovery. Our teachers intentionally nurture this natural curiosity through play, exploration, and meaningful bilingual learning.

At Heritage Hmong Preschool, we’re more than a school—we’re a community where children build confidence, connect with their roots, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our mission is to inspire children to grow, learn, and reach their highest potential while celebrating and embracing Hmong language and culture.

  • Pang Hlub Xiong is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, she later earned her Master of Literacy Education from Hamline University, where she received the 2014 Educator Award. That same year, she was honored as the Exemplary Educator by the National Association of Multicultural Education in Tucson, Arizona, for her dedication to advancing multicultural education.

For ten years, Ms. Xiong taught kindergarten through third grade in the Twin Cities metro area. During that time, she also led Hmong Club for students, creating a joyful and affirming space where Hmong children could express themselves, celebrate their identity, and walk the school halls with confidence and pride.

Ms. Xiong is also the founder of Project Hmong Children’s Books, a passion-driven initiative to increase access to bilingual Hmong literature and nurture a love of reading within the Hmong community.

She currently lives in the Twin Cities with her husband and children. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, and doing science experiments with her children.

  • Heritage Hmong Preschool is looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and bilingual Hmong teacher who is dedicated to supporting young learners. If you have a heart for early childhood education and a passion for nurturing bilingual and bicultural skills, we invite you to join our community.

The Benefits of Bilingualism

At Heritage Hmong Preschool, we believe that bilingualism is a lifelong gift. Learning two languages at an early age helps children build strong communication skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in who they are.

Bilingual children develop greater flexibility in thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Research shows that early exposure to two languages strengthens brain development, enhances memory, and supports future academic success.

But beyond academics, bilingualism connects children to their roots. By learning both Hmong and English, our students gain a deeper sense of identity and belonging—embracing the beauty of two languages and the richness of two cultures.

In every story we share, song we sing, and conversation we nurture, we celebrate the joy of growing up bilingual and bicultural—one of the most meaningful gifts we can give our children.
